David Murray

Skiing - Inducted in 2005

David was on the Canadian National Ski Team for ten years, participating in 10 world cups as well as two Olympic Games events. He was one of the Crazy Canucks who took Europe by storm in the '70's and brought attention for Canada's National Ski Team with their perilous style of skiing, David died far too early at the age of 37 but he accomplished a great deal in his short life. He left a lasting legacy in the Dave Murray Summer Ski Camp and the Dave Murray Foundation that was formed in his honour. The Foundation provides a bursary to a promising, young skier each year. David received the John Semmelink award in 1978 and was inducted into the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame in 1987.
