Rob Lazeo

Football - inducted in 2014

Rob is being inducted into the Abbotsford Sports Hall of Fame in the athlete category for his outstanding achievements in the sport of football. Rob played football at both Abbotsford Junior and Abbotsford Senior. Rob received in 1990 the Abbotsford Airforce Graduate award and continued his football career receiving a full athletic scholarship to Western Illinois University.

Drafted in the 1st round of the 1995 CFL draft by the Saskatchewan Rough riders and spent 14 years in the CFL (8 years with Saskatchewan, two years with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and four years with the Calgary Stampeders). It was during his tenure with the Stampeders that Rob had his greatest success, both individually and team-wise.

Rob was the Calgary Stampeder's nominee for CFL Offensive Lineman of the year, a 2008 West Division All-Star at centre, a 2008 Grey Cup Champion and in 2011 received the Calgary Stampeder Presidents Ring Award given to a Stampeder who demonstrates excellence and leadership both on and off the field (as voted by the players). Rob's football pinnacle was when Calgary defeated the Montreal Alouettes 22-14 in the 96th Grey Cup game in Montreal.

Today Rob lives in Abbotsford and works alongside a few of his Alberta teammates at Gridiron Drilling Services.
